وَهُوَ ٱلَّذِى مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ هَٰذَا عَذۡبٌۭ فُرَاتٌۭ وَهَٰذَا مِلۡحٌ أُجَاجٌۭ وَجَعَلَ بَيۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخًۭا وَحِجۡرًۭا مَّحۡجُورًۭا

“And it is He who has released the two seas, one fresh and sweet and the other salty and bitter. And He has placed between them a barrier and a prohibiting partition.”

(Quran 25:53)

This verse describes how two seas, with different characteristics (one fresh and the other salty), meet but do not mix, thanks to a barrier that separates them. This phenomenon was described in the Quran centuries ago and has since been scientifically confirmed.
